Upcoming 2019 summer flicks

With the school year ending, you will be finding yourself with much more free time. If you are looking for ways to fill this newfound free time, consider spending it at Hillsborough Cinemas. Check out some of the most anticipated movies coming this summer.

Aladdin:
One of the most famous childhood movies is being brought to cinemas near you. Aladdin and his adorable little sidekick, Abu, take on extraordinary adventures, but this time the actors are not cartoon. The new Aladdin is packed with classic songs like” A Whole New World” and “Friend Like Me”. Although this is considered a children’s movie, do not be surprised if you see a lot of college kids in theaters trying to relive their childhood memories. With Will Smith as the Genie, the movie should be magical. Make sure to catch Aladdin now before it exits theaters.

Toy Story 4:
Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of the gang embark on a road trip with Bonnie and a new toy named Forky. The adventurous journey turns into an unexpected reunion as Woody’s slight detour leads him to his long-lost friend Bo Peep. As Woody and Bo discuss the old days, they soon start to realize that they’re worlds apart when it comes to what they want from life as a toy. Toy Story 4 hits theaters June 20.

Spider-Man: Far From Home:
Following the events of Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home shows how fan favorite, Spider-Man has to step into a new role and take on new threats. Following the death of his mentor Tony Stark, Peter Parker is reluctant to step into a role of bigger responsibility, and wants to be able to enjoy normal things a teenager does, like going on a school field trip. This film features a talented cast including Tom Holland as Spiderman ,and Jake Gyllenhaal as a new villain named Mysterio. Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 2.

The Lion King:
Another one of the summer’s most anticipated movies is the live-action version of the Disney classic The Lion King. For those who have not seen the original animated film, The Lion King is about a young lion named Simba who idolizes his father, King Mufasa. Since not everyone agrees with Simba being king one day, another lion named Scar rises up and starts a battle for the kingdom of Pride Rock. With a star studded cast including Beyonce, Donald Glover, and Seth Rogen, The live-action version of The Lion King looks to impress. Be sure to see The Lion King starting July 19.

IT Chapter Two:
IT Chapter 2 is the sequel to the 2017 film IT, a remake of the ’90s horror classic. Both movies are based on the 1986 novel written by Stephen King. The film is set in 2016, 27 years after the events of 1989 depicted in the first film. In the sleepy town of Derry, Pennywise the evil clown returns to torment the grown-up members of the Losers’ Club, who have long since drifted apart from one another. It stars James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean, who portray the adult versions of The Losers Club. This movie will hit theaters September 6.
