While ordering lunch here at HHS, you will come across many members of the lunch staff who are happy to tend to the students’ needs. In fact, you may notice that there is one lunch lady that is sure to brighten your day with her bubbly and friendly personality.

This lunch lady is Colleen Lynch, and she plays a big part in the school’s lunch system. She also contributes greatly to the happy environment of HHS, as she is always working with a smile on her face. During lunch periods, she often works behind the register on the a la carte side of the cafeteria.

Her favorite part of her job is her bosses and the kids, whom she is happy to interact with throughout the day.

The kids may not notice, but her job is not easy; it often brings up many difficulties. “My biggest challenge is getting things out on time and ready for you guys,” she says. “The food has to be prepared and organized before fourth period, which gives the staff limited time to cook the large variety of foods. The job can be stressful, especially when crowds of hungry students are lining up to order and pay for food.” Lynch always makes sure that the students are getting their lunch in a timely fashion and not waiting in line all period.

Aside from working in the school, Lynch enjoys following Rutgers football (“when they’re winning,” she says), going to the gym, and going out with her friends to dinner.

When people think of staff members who help the school, they usually think of teachers and principals. However, we cannot forget the unsung heroes like Lynch, who tend to the students every day, and make sure to do it with a happy attitude.
